Playing with new sets

So I am finally sitting down and playing with some of my new sets. I love this background stamp! This is the card that I sent in for the new set swap.

This is the Riot of Petals background stamp. It is stamped in gold ink and embossed on sky blue cardstock. I bleached the petals of the flowers and the stems. I used a celery marker to color in the stems. I then added a 3D butterfly using the butterfly from the priceless set.

The sky blue is layered onto blush blossom and blue bayou for the card base. I also did one in pretty in pink and used the bleach. I really liked that one too.

Sale-a-bration is almost here!

Yeah!!! Sale-a-bration is almost here!!! Feb. 1st starts the best sale of the year!! For every $50 in merchandise that you purchase, you get a FREE stamp set.
This is Friendship Blooms from this year's SAB selection!

Exploding Box

These are really neat and actually not that hard to make. Stop by my class on Wed. Feb. 13th to learn how to make these! I will also be demoing these at my Cape workshop on the 8th.

Emily filled one with candy and gave it away last week at a Yankee swap with some friends.

Uses 3 sheets of 12x12 cardstock and two sheets of designer paper. For this one, I used the Cerise paper.
1. Score the first piece of 12x12 at 4" on each side so you have a grid pattern. Cut out the corner squares.
2. Cut the second sheet to 10.5 x 10.5". Score the piece at 3.5" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
3. Cut the third sheet to 9x9". Score the piece at 3" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
4. Cut a fourth piece of Cardstock to 7.5x7.5". Score the piece at 2.5" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
5. Fold each piece on the score lines. Starting with largest piece, layer the four pieces together and attach.
6. Use Designer paper to decorate outside and inside of box. Also great for pictures as a gift scrapbook.
7. Cut a piece of cardstock 6.5x6.5" for the lid. Score at 1.25" on each side. Make two slits on two parallel sides and fold flap in to make a lid.
Voila! You have your box!

Blogger's Challenge

This week's Blogger's Challenge was to copy the card layout on the bottom of page 141 of the new catalog. I actually made this card twice using two different orientations and color schemes.

I needed a couple of birthday cards so I played around with this layout.
The first card is with the new Sale-a-bration set Merci. The second card is using the Sale-a-bration rub-ons and the Tagger's Dream stamp set. Also the new flower punch and a scrap of designer paper. Always save your scraps!!

Blogger's Challenge

So I know this is really late... This week's challenge was to use blue bayou, real red and river rock colors together. So the cardstock is blue bayou and real red. I used the river rock ribbon to tie the card together!

The stamp set is the new Merci Sale-a-bration set (will be available in February!).

Stay tuned for more Sale-a-bration ideas!

Check out my other fellow bloggers in my side bar and all of their great ideas!

More New Ideas!

These next cards were made with the new Berry Bliss designer paper. The card in the center is a card that my friend Elizabeth Blais made last year. I have always liked the layout and idea of showcasing the designer papers! So here is another version with some of the new paper!

Cardstocks are Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink with Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon. I used pomegranete ink with the Doodle This stamp set! I know this isn't a new set but I still like it!

New Catalog Favorite Set

So where does the time go??? I think each morning as the kids get on the bus at 7am that I have the whole day and before I know it the day has gone by and it is 2:30 and I have all the kids activities...

Anyway - last week I sat down and played with some of those new sets that I purchased. I love the new Embrace Life set and the Ginger Blossom paper!!! So far, this is my favorite!

This card uses the Natural Ivory Cardstock, ruby red cardstock and inks to match the Ginger blossom designer paper. The flower is stamped in black and watercolored with ruby red ink and an aqua painter.

This next card also uses the Natural Ivory cardstock, ruby red and groovy gauva. I used the spotlight technique to highlight the colored rose.

Blogger's Challenge - Week #29

Our challenge this week was to copy the card layout for the Save the Date card on page 37 of the new catalog. This means that we use the layout but can change the stamp set and color scheme.

I chose to use the new stamp set Kind Thoughts on page 119 of the new catalog. I did use the same colors except I substituted always artichoke for old olive. I really like this new set!

Stamp set: Kind Thoughts
Cardstock: Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Natural Ivory, Sky Blue
Inks: Close to Cocoa, Blue Bayou

Blogger's Challenge - Week #28- Pink & Brown

Wow, I have finally recovered from the holidays and am getting back into the swing of things. I feel like I lost a month in December! I don't know where the month went. So I know that I have missed a couple of challenges. My New Year's resolution is to post twice a week. Hopefully I can keep that goal.

This week's challenge is to make a card using Brown & Pink cardstock. I finished this card last week and sent it in for the new Catalog swap and it just happens to be brown & pink! So here is my card for this week. I used the Happy Heart Day stamp set, close to cocoa and pretty in pink cardstock and the close to cocoa designer paper.

The flowers have glitter on them but it is hard to see in the picture. I used watercolor crayons to color the images.

So today - I had my new catalog open house and was playing with the new set Happy Heart Day. Several people stopped by to pick up the new catalog! Kim stopped by with her two daughters; Julianna (4) and Hailey (2).
Julianna is a natural. She picked up the stamps and showed me how to make a card! She had obviously done this at pre-school. I told her that today's challenge is to make a card using pink & brown. This is Julianna's card.

Julianna used crayons to color her images. She loves the Happy Heart Day set!

Below is the card that her mother Kim, made. I am sorry that this came out a little fuzzy.

Have a great weekend!
