Blogger's Challenge

Hi all,

This week's challenge was to make a card using chocolate chip, sky blue, blue bayou and real red cardstocks.

I used the canvas background stamp, real red designer paper and the chocolate satin ribbon to enhance the card.
The stamp set is For Father.

Always Card - cased from Mary Jo

Good Morning,

I had a friend stop by today and I was playing with some of my new sets. So she joined me and we had fun casing a few ideas that I have seen recently. I saw this card by Mary Jo Price-Williams and loved it but didn't have the same stamp set.

So I used the Always stamp set and the same Berry bliss designer paper. This is what I came up with! Just goes to show that you don't always need the exact same stamp set!

Mother's Day Idea - Bloomin' Beautiful

I cased this card format and color scheme from one of my stamping buddies, Janet Hindman. I did change it to make it a double slider card that I think would be great for a mother's day card!

Stamp set is Bloomin' Beautiful, artichoke cardstock and the Holiday Harmony designer paper.

Always save your scraps!!! You can use those leftover holiday papers for other types of cards too!

Blogger's Challenge

Happy Friday again!

Here are some ideas that I worked on this week. First is my blogger's challenge cards.

Our challenge this week is to make birthday themed cards. No specific layout. Since I was out of birthday cards, I thought that I would make a few. So here is an assortment of birthday cards made using the Birthday Whimsey stamp set.
I used groovy gauva as the background for one, so saffron for the second and wild wasabi for the third.

This next card is a case of the card on page 21 of the catalog. I substituted Riot of Petals for the hostess set From the Garden. Riot of Petals is stamped with groovy gauva ink and layered onto so saffron and groovy gauva cardstock. I used a piece of ginger blossom paper and gold brads along the bottom with rose grosgrain ribbon.

Blogger's Challenge

Happy Friday!!

This week's challenge is to make a shaped card. I borrowed a really neat design that I saw on another discussion group and then found out the design was by our own member Lauren Meader!!! So thank you Lauren!! I love this card! There is a great tutorial on her blog. I love this group!! I am really challenged to think out of the box! I get so many great ideas from my stamping friends.
I used pretty in pink cardstock with a couple of different designer papers on mine. The spring fling designer paper and berry bliss. The card is made using the scallop and circle punches. How clever!!
Have a great weekend,
Marilyn

This week's bloggers challenge is to copy the layout of the birthday card on page 42 of the catalog.

I used the new set Bloomin' Beautiful from the upcoming Occasions mini catalog. This set will be available on March 1st! I also used Trimtastic to create the trim on the bottom of the pretty in pink I used the so saffron designer paper for the square in the background of the scallop. Sherbert ribbon is used on the side of the decorative square.

I can't wait to see what my fellow bloggers have come up with!!

Spring Fling samples

These are some samples that I made playing with the new Spring Fling designer paper. I love the combination of colors and think this paper will be perfect for spring Easter cards.

The Card on the left is made with the new set Boho Backgrounds. The design is stamped several times in multiple colors and then layered using the circle punches. I used sticky strip on the pink stripes and then adhered beads to the tape. A nice 3D effect for the background of the card.

The card on the back right is made with A Little Birdie Told Me.

The bottom card is a folding card with a belly band. The flower from Time Well Spent is used to embellish the belly band.

Blogger's Challenge

this week I am actually posting on time!! The challenge this week is to use the following colors: old olive, rose red, taken with teal and pumpkin together. I thought what an odd combination but when I pulled the colors out I really like them together. That's what is great about this group. It pushes you out of your box...

I used the new Boho Background set. I love the circle and the way that it fits into the scallop punch. And of course how you can layer the pieces of it with different colors! I can't wait to see what everyone else did too!
I couldn't resist this picture. This is my neice and nephew. It is great being an Aunt. I get to play with them and give them back! Emily took the picture when she was babysitting them this week. Hannah is 4 1/2 and Adam is 20 months.

Have a great weekend!

Lynn's Challenge - scrapbook pages

So Saturday a few of us local demos got together for a fun afternoon of stamping/scrapping. Lynn - my fabulous upline challenged us all to make a 12x12 scrapbook page to swap. So here is everyone's pages! Thanks Lynn for pushing us. It was a great day!

This is Lynn's page. She used the folding technique that Mary Jo Price Williams showed on her blog last week to make the flower in the top left corner. Check out Mary Jo's blog here! http://technostamper.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2008-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-05%3A00&updated-max=2009-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-05%3A00&max-results=4500&max-results=45

This is Dawn Burke's page. Made with Time Well Spent set - level 3 hostess set from the new catalog.

This page is Deanna's using the Berry Bliss designer paper.

Michele made the school page using the East Coast Prep designer paper.

And last but not least, I used the Priceless stamp set and Bali Breeze Designer paper.

We had quite a fun day!

Playing with new sets

So I am finally sitting down and playing with some of my new sets. I love this background stamp! This is the card that I sent in for the new set swap.

This is the Riot of Petals background stamp. It is stamped in gold ink and embossed on sky blue cardstock. I bleached the petals of the flowers and the stems. I used a celery marker to color in the stems. I then added a 3D butterfly using the butterfly from the priceless set.

The sky blue is layered onto blush blossom and blue bayou for the card base. I also did one in pretty in pink and used the bleach. I really liked that one too.

Sale-a-bration is almost here!

Yeah!!! Sale-a-bration is almost here!!! Feb. 1st starts the best sale of the year!! For every $50 in merchandise that you purchase, you get a FREE stamp set.
This is Friendship Blooms from this year's SAB selection!

Exploding Box

These are really neat and actually not that hard to make. Stop by my class on Wed. Feb. 13th to learn how to make these! I will also be demoing these at my Cape workshop on the 8th.

Emily filled one with candy and gave it away last week at a Yankee swap with some friends.

Uses 3 sheets of 12x12 cardstock and two sheets of designer paper. For this one, I used the Cerise paper.
1. Score the first piece of 12x12 at 4" on each side so you have a grid pattern. Cut out the corner squares.
2. Cut the second sheet to 10.5 x 10.5". Score the piece at 3.5" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
3. Cut the third sheet to 9x9". Score the piece at 3" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
4. Cut a fourth piece of Cardstock to 7.5x7.5". Score the piece at 2.5" on each side. Cut out the corner squares.
5. Fold each piece on the score lines. Starting with largest piece, layer the four pieces together and attach.
6. Use Designer paper to decorate outside and inside of box. Also great for pictures as a gift scrapbook.
7. Cut a piece of cardstock 6.5x6.5" for the lid. Score at 1.25" on each side. Make two slits on two parallel sides and fold flap in to make a lid.
Voila! You have your box!

Blogger's Challenge

This week's Blogger's Challenge was to copy the card layout on the bottom of page 141 of the new catalog. I actually made this card twice using two different orientations and color schemes.

I needed a couple of birthday cards so I played around with this layout.
The first card is with the new Sale-a-bration set Merci. The second card is using the Sale-a-bration rub-ons and the Tagger's Dream stamp set. Also the new flower punch and a scrap of designer paper. Always save your scraps!!

Blogger's Challenge

So I know this is really late... This week's challenge was to use blue bayou, real red and river rock colors together. So the cardstock is blue bayou and real red. I used the river rock ribbon to tie the card together!

The stamp set is the new Merci Sale-a-bration set (will be available in February!).

Stay tuned for more Sale-a-bration ideas!

Check out my other fellow bloggers in my side bar and all of their great ideas!

More New Ideas!

These next cards were made with the new Berry Bliss designer paper. The card in the center is a card that my friend Elizabeth Blais made last year. I have always liked the layout and idea of showcasing the designer papers! So here is another version with some of the new paper!

Cardstocks are Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink with Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon. I used pomegranete ink with the Doodle This stamp set! I know this isn't a new set but I still like it!

New Catalog Favorite Set

So where does the time go??? I think each morning as the kids get on the bus at 7am that I have the whole day and before I know it the day has gone by and it is 2:30 and I have all the kids activities...

Anyway - last week I sat down and played with some of those new sets that I purchased. I love the new Embrace Life set and the Ginger Blossom paper!!! So far, this is my favorite!

This card uses the Natural Ivory Cardstock, ruby red cardstock and inks to match the Ginger blossom designer paper. The flower is stamped in black and watercolored with ruby red ink and an aqua painter.

This next card also uses the Natural Ivory cardstock, ruby red and groovy gauva. I used the spotlight technique to highlight the colored rose.

Blogger's Challenge - Week #28- Pink & Brown

Wow, I have finally recovered from the holidays and am getting back into the swing of things. I feel like I lost a month in December! I don't know where the month went. So I know that I have missed a couple of challenges. My New Year's resolution is to post twice a week. Hopefully I can keep that goal.

This week's challenge is to make a card using Brown & Pink cardstock. I finished this card last week and sent it in for the new Catalog swap and it just happens to be brown & pink! So here is my card for this week. I used the Happy Heart Day stamp set, close to cocoa and pretty in pink cardstock and the close to cocoa designer paper.

The flowers have glitter on them but it is hard to see in the picture. I used watercolor crayons to color the images.

So today - I had my new catalog open house and was playing with the new set Happy Heart Day. Several people stopped by to pick up the new catalog! Kim stopped by with her two daughters; Julianna (4) and Hailey (2).
Julianna is a natural. She picked up the stamps and showed me how to make a card! She had obviously done this at pre-school. I told her that today's challenge is to make a card using pink & brown. This is Julianna's card.

Julianna used crayons to color her images. She loves the Happy Heart Day set!

Below is the card that her mother Kim, made. I am sorry that this came out a little fuzzy.

Have a great weekend!
